The Botanical Garden of the city of Holguín offers among its main attractions for the summer activities to promote the protection of endemic species of flora, with a wide biodiversity.

Tours of the main botanical areas of the site, educational talks on the conservation of exclusive genres, contests and participatory games will be part of the program aimed at children, Yudith Floirian, a specialist in the facility, told ACN.

She stressed that during the summer season, the Friends of the Botanical Garden Festival will also be held, which will also include an exhibition of exotic varieties from Asia and Africa, including the locally grown sausage tree.

She said that the activities will bring the holguinera family closer to the characteristics of species such as the Flor de Holguín, the dwarf cactus and the rigid cocotrinax, native to the eastern province, with more than a thousand plants in this classification.

In the summer, other options will also be offered, such as renting spaces for quinceañera celebrations and weddings and gastronomic offers, as part of the options for healthy recreation, he said.

The Botanical Garden of Holguín was inaugurated on January 28, 1995 and has 13 botanical areas where species from different geographical areas are represented, including genera exclusive to the eastern region.

The facility also provides numerous scientific and technical services, including the floristic rehabilitation of beaches, maintenance of gardens and green areas, reforestation of degraded areas and wholesale of plants.
