The rate of accidents at work in the province of Holguín has decreased, thanks to the preventive work of the Directorate of Labour and Social Security, in coordination with workers and managers of companies in the territory.
According to Ismael Araño, a provincial specialist in Occupational Health and Safety, only 27 occupational accidents have been recorded so far in the province of Holguín, a figure lower than the number of incidents that occurred in the first half of 2017.
According to the specialist from the Directorate of Labour and Social Security, through the inspections carried out in each of the territories, there are now municipalities with zero occupational accidents, so that the province of Holguín, in general, behaves favourably.
In a negative way, the accidents related to the handling of machinery and equipment with a notable degree of exploitation, which constitutes the main cause of labor damage, not only in our province, but also in Cuba as a whole.
For this reason, the Health and Safety specialists at Holguín's Labor Department emphasize the need to guarantee safe working conditions, prevent work-related accidents, occupational diseases, fires, breakdowns or other damages that may affect workers' health and the work environment.
