The territorial division of the telecommunications company of Cuba (Etecsa) in Holguín foresees for this year the extension of fixed telephony services. According to information offered by Iliana Fernández, marketing and communication specialist of the entity, the investments will guarantee the installation of four thousand new services, distributed mainly in the municipalities of Moa, Mayarí and Holguín.
In the case of Moa, the beneficiaries will be the residents of the Miraflores district, while in Mayarí the possibilities of communication by the fixed network in the Primero de Enero community will be expanded.
The installation of a cabinet is planned at the entrance to the municipality of Antilla, a team that will host more than 300 connections and a similar work is carried out in the popular council Centro Ciudad Norte de Holguín, exactly at the intersection of Prado and Cervantes streets, where The civil work is currently being executed and its completion is estimated for the end of 2018, Fernandez said.
Last year more than three thousand new fixed telephony services were installed here and the investments were concentrated mainly in the municipality of Calixto García, considered, some time ago, the lowest telephone density in the territory of Holguin.
Holguín has a telephone density of around seven landlines per 100 inhabitants, a figure still very low in correspondence with the more than one million inhabitants of this region of eastern Cuba, however, this figure will continue to increase thanks to the investments made by Etecsa
