Members of the pediatric cardiology network gathered in the northeastern Cuban city of Holguin to assess oucomes of prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart diseases, incidence and treatment, as key agenda items corresponding to the 28th meeting of the national working group that takes place Thursday and Friday at Expo-Holguin fair and tarde ground.

Opening the forum, Dr Eugenio Selman-Housein Sosa, head of the national pediatric cardiology network, noted the importance of this meeting to encourage analysis and reach agreements to improve the work of this healthcare network in the country.
The agenda included a conference on the treatment to adults with congenital heart disease, offered by Dr. Alfredo Naranjo, a surgeon at the Cardiology Center of William Soler hospital.
Participants are also assessing the results of the work developed by specialists from other provinces, including Holguin, which has had remarkable performance in the training of specialists and the management and monitoring of children with heart disease.
The national pediatric cardiology network, founded in 1986, provides health care coverage to all children with heart disease in the country and guarantee the continuity of care and monitoring, which has led to the decrease of mortality for this cause from 3.0 per thousand births to 0.5. / Ahora.
