The Cuban eastern province of Holguin will host the fifth International Congress "Health and Quality of Life" from 4 to 6 November, aimed at promoting the practice of healthy lifestyles from community work.
Based at the Hotel Atlantico Guardalavaca, the event will devote the first two days of sessions to scientific work through workshops and courses, with the central theme "A better life with the participation of all".
The last day is scheduled a special community activity in the city of Banes, where the President of the Government will present experiences achieved in local human development of the territory.
Dr. Rebeca Robles, of the Organizing Committee, said they have already created a Community scientific scenario to promote debate on diverse topics such as health, culture, physical activity, healthy recreation, social communication and community. In addition, the meeting will address many- sided issues such as nutrition, HIV / AIDS, cancer and addiction.
From 2000 to 2003, Holguín held provincial, national and international workshops. But it was in 2005 when this scientific meeting became Congress being held every two years. So far, there have been four events held successfully with the participation of over 800 delegates from 17 countries in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, including representatives from all Cuban provinces.
The Congress is organized by the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba and the sponsor of WHO, PAHO, the National School of Public Health of Brazil and the Tropical Medicine Institute, Antwerp, Belgium.
