According to Dr. Pedro Fernandez Sarabia, of the Organizing Committee for the event, the program includes a Scientific Meeting on 5 and 6 November, with the presentation of nearly 200 papers on topics related to the care of the elderly; prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, surgical and trauma emergencies, clinical care, mother and child care, nursing, health management, human resources development and natural and traditional medicine, among others.
Scientific exchange will be devoted to health workers who fought Ebola in African countries, due to their professional performance putting high the humanism and scientific level of health workers from the island, said Fernandez.
The agenda also includes meetings with founders of the institution and outstanding workers, in recognition of their contribution during this half century to the development of services provided by the health center to patients from Holguin and other neighboring provinces.
Currently, there are four specialized centers based at Lenin hospital: the Oncology Center and the High Technology Center for the Care of infertile couples, both with coverage for various provinces; the clinical-surgical unit and obstetrics and gynecology unit, which reports the greatest number of births in the country, 20 to 25 daily.
The commemorative program also includes the delivery of the Lenin award to personalities who for five decades have contributed to the scientific and historical development of the hospital.
The closing ceremony will take place on November 7 at the Lenin Theater in the health institution, symbol of internationalism inaugurated by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in 1965. / By Lourdes Pichs Rodríguez
