To improve medical services at the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja pediatric hospital of Holguin, is inaugurate the respiratory care room, which stands out among health investments in 2018.
At a cost higher than 240, 000 Cuban convertible pesos (CUP), the new room has 30 beds and an isolation room for the care of infants under one year of age with acute respiratory diseases.
Dr. Miguel Leyva, director of the healthcare center, said to the ACN news agency that the room is equipped with bedside panels for aspiration and oxygen supply for the urgent care to the patient.
He added that the new room will also provide health care to children from other neighboring provinces.
As part of the repair and maintenance program of the pediatric hospital, which has a budget of more than one million CUP, the cardiology room, nutrition, burn and child psychiatry, among others, will also undergo renovation works, Leyva said.
The pediatric hospital of Holguin was founded on October 10, 1971 and provides health care in more than 35 specialties, highlighting neonatology, intensive and intermediate therapy, pediatric surgery, oncohematology, neonatal surgery of minimum access, traumas and psychology.
Since 2017, areas such as the kitchen-dining room, the breast milk bank, the admission area, the outpatient clinics, the workers' card holder, the children's playground at the entrance of the institution and the emergency room have undergone repairs to provide greater comfort and improve the infrastructure of the facility, which has 540 beds.
