On the sixth of March, the Hematology room of the Clinical Surgical Hospital of Holguín "Lucía Íñiguez Landín", located in the 5th Ward, was inaugurated, the facility with a capacity of 21 beds has new or repaired furniture, optimal conditions in the area of cubicles and bathrooms, living room, three isolated rooms for the treatment cyto reducer, a local for the taking of samples for bone marrow biopsies and a surgical room for the activity of bone marrow transplantation.
The deputy director of serious care, Dr. Ángel González Sarduy, said: "When you count for the first time in your interior with a surgical room, this room reduces the risk of hospital infection to which the patient is exposed, by avoiding the transfer process" .
Present at the inauguration were Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province and Katia María Ochoa Aguilera, provincial director of Public Health, among other leaders of the territory.
The specialty of Hematology deals with the clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases caused by the immunological elements of the blood, manifested by the alteration of these elements. The patient with hematological disorders requires special hygienic measures, conditions of isolation and asepsis in the handling of medical instruments and their articles of use.
The reopening of this room, with an approximate cost of 65 thousand CUC, is part of the extensive repair and maintenance process that is carried out in the hospital facility and, in a progressive manner, returns to the hospital a better comfort and quality of services .
The investment program also includes the revitalization of other scenarios, among which the clinical laboratory stands out.
