As part of the homage for the 13th years of the passing of Polo Montañez, the Cultural Association named after him in the northeastern Cuban province of Holguin, organized its first cultural exchange with the Association of Recreation and Culture of Italy (ARCI), represented by one of its most senior executives, Paolo Canipari.
During the event, held at the headquarters of the Holguin province branch of the Cuban Artists and Writers Association (UNEAC), Maximo Javier Guerrero Espinosa, who runs the Polo Montañez Cultural Association, presented certificates of acknowledgment to the distinguished visitor for his work in support of universal culture; while Reina Arzuaga, representative of the local craftsmanship community (Artecom), awarded him with a fur hat with a picture of Polo Montañez decorated on it.
Participants in the meeting remembered the life and work of Polo Montañez, also known as Guajiro Natural.
From November 15 thru 29, Holguin is paying tribute to Fernando Borrego Linares (Polo Montañez), who was born on June 5, 1955 in Sierra del Rosario and died victim of a car accident on November 26, 2002.
The Cuban singer-songwriter authored more than 100 songs, including Guitarra Mia, Un monton de estrellas, La ultima cancion and Flor Palida, now popularized by Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony. / Ahora.
