Cuban artist from the province of Guantanamo, Diorges Gamboa Sanchez, that won the Arts Salon Regino Eladio Boti Exhibition last 2014, stands in the way he approaches arts; and it is that he goes from large format engravings, full of spectral images, demigods and symbols of Afro-Cuban religion, till representing concepts thru artistic installations, made up of simple shapes and natural fibers, which become examples of his evolution and tenacious work.
Long hours working in the workshop to over midnight since he was a student at the Art School Regino Eladio Boti, in Guantanamo, forged the experiments of the artist who not only conceived pieces with suspenders, or xylography technique, but also he uses leaves of trees and plenty of water to obtain different textures, shapes, shadows and lights reflected in his pieces.
Objects as useful as a rope, bricks, a sewing machine, remind the artist's experiences of his childhood with his mother in the municipality of Manuel Tames and inserted his work.
It is that Gamboa Sanchez's work of art embodies the daily vicissitudes, social criticism and reflections, obtained from the strong hands and soft instead of this Guantanamo engraver, who uses now a mix-up of leaves turned into paper fibers, an experiment that he's still studying to improve its durability.
"Retrospectivas", "Por el ludrico trazo" and "Grabados en el tiempo" are some of the personal exhibition of this engraver graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of San Joaquin Tejeda, in Santiago de Cuba in 1992. For these works fruit the painstaking work of Diorges Gamboa Sanchez, received awards and other recognition as the Salon 4 de Abril, in Santiago de Cuba, Salon Regino Eladio Boti and Salon Jose Vazquez Pubillones, the two latter ones in Guantanamo.
This man of peasant roots, who is also member of the Cuban Artists and Writers Association, is on new path of engraving, and during his career has participated in more than sixty collective and personal exhibitions, always in the perennial exploration of his environment to create with suspenders, precise cuts, plaster of leaves his engravings scattered in the buildings of the city to endure over time, as this labored creative man dreams. / By By Liubis Balart Martinez - Radio Guantanamo.
