The increased rooms will be located in Las Conchas complex, run by the Gaviota group, while the full capacity will reach 1000 rooms in 2016, said Fernandez during a meeting here with reporters.
Fernandez said that hotels in Varadero will end this year with 20,566 rooms for tourism, while the territory of Matanzas totals 21,153 rooms.
She said that some 2,000 rooms were repaired in view of the winter season, hence the quality standards were risen to meet the demands of customers.
She said that three other hotels are under construction, as well as a water park and a watchtower known as Torre de Cristal, for those interested in adventure and entertainment climbs.
Known as the Blue Beach, Varadero, located on the northern coast of Matanzas territory some 140 kilometers east of Havana, was visited in September for the eighth consecutive year by more than one million foreign tourists. / PL.
