Cuban Company, Finalist to Ibero-American Quality Award
The Fuels Marketing Company of the central-eastern Cuban province of Camaguey was praised by Alfredo Lopez Valdes, the country's Minister of Energy and Mines, for being one of 17 finalists going for the Iberian-American Quality Award.

That entity, belonging to Cuba Petroleo Union (CUPET by its Spanish acronym) was the sole representative of the Caribbean nation this year for the award summoned by the Ibero-American Foundation for Quality Management (FUNDIBEQ by its Spanish acronym), which award ceremony will take place on November 23, in Spain.

Accompanied by Isabel Gonzalez Cardenas, president of government in the territory, Lopez Valdes praised the company by developing a coherent work with the principles of quality in the processes and attention to the public, according to the bases of its integrated management system.

He also said that they are waiting for the day of the awards ceremony with great expectations, because since 2007 no Cuban company has opted for the prize, and if winning, it would be the first one in the sector to obtain this prestigious award granted by FUNDIBEQ.

Other Cuban entities winners in previous editions are CUBACEL group, belonging to the Telecommunications Company of Cuba, the Plaza Hotel in Havana, the International Retinitis Pigmentosa Center and the Port Pilots of the Republic of Cuba.

With an integrated management system certified for various ISO standards, the Fuels Marketing Company of Camaguey was the first entity of CUPET to receive the National Quality Award, which is an indispensable requirement to apply to the Ibero-American edition.

It also holds the National Environment Award for its work in protecting the environment, monitoring of gas and appropriate treatment of chemicals to prevent contamination. / CNA.
