The Nickel Research Center (Cedeniq), belonging to the company CubaNíquel, participates in ExpoCiencia 2018 with interesting proposals, one of which is the use of nickel sulphate for the benefit of agriculture, a fact unknown until now.
Given that nickel sulphate does not have high exploitation potential in the Cuban steel industry, its authors in coordination with the Extension, Research and Training Unit of Agriculture in Velasco (Ueica), and the Jorge Dimitrov research center of the Cuban city of Bayamo, have in process the application of this product as a fungicide, because besides not polluting the soil, it fertilizes it and eliminates pests, according to its authors who participate in ExpoCiencia 2018.
Recognizes its main author, Omar Lobaina Eduardo, who is a graduate engineer in the Soviet Union, that nickel sulphate as a product is superior to nickel sulphide for various reasons, not only because it has metallic appearance, but exceeds its predecessor in quality and durability, said this Moense exhibitor.
The auxiliary researcher also reports that at the stand they expose other proposals such as the use of minerals as pigments for floor tiles, among other procurement materials, and that for their pleasure they were rewarded in the last edition of Expociencia.
In its exhibition area, it also highlights a product that they obtained by their own ways, different from the Russian and North Korean, but that is kept in reserve if the nickel sinter was discontinued, "nevertheless, we continue studying and making tests to follow improving this product, "says Lobaina.
Lobaina emphasizes that this product with the name of Utility has properties that surpass the nickel sinter, that is, by its metallic appearance, higher nickel content, and that it does not degrade with the use as a sinter.
Expociencia will conclude this Friday, the 23rd day of recognitions for the best participants will be, without doubts, the application of science, technology and innovation the great winner, with its contribution to the development of the province and the nation.
