Cuban Nelson Cruz Tejas has been linked to the radio for 59 years. It is easy to say, but hard to go; anyway, making it has been a pleasure for him who says he feels at home in front of the microphones and the studios.

He has been a presenter, an actor, a writer and radio show director; that is why, he has become a "radio man" whose top work and talent have been acknowledged with 27 provincial awards and seven ones at national level.

He was born in the town of Chaparra, today's Las Tunas province, but has deeply rooted in Holguin city.

To become a presenter he had to make a long way till passing the exam in 1956 in Santiago de Cuba, thus beginning his career in the radio.

Cruz Tejas started working at CMKO, the main station of the Holguin province Radio Broadcasting System, after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution - January first, 1959.

He was fascinated with writing, and that precisely spelled him to a point that he is one of the musts in the shows on history at CMKO Radio Angulo.

Besides being a presenter and a writer, he later on became an actor, but also a radio show director, thus completing his many folded career which also included being a teacher and contributing to training new generations of presenters in Holguin.

Cruz Tejas that is attached to traditions has reached many achievements and has made history in radio shows like those on Cuban rural music, in which he showed his talent for improving as a decimista at the beat of the now gone group Cacoyuguin.

Cruz Tejas is nowadays a radio show director, a writer and an actor at Radio Angulo in station's program like Mexico canta , Estampas holguineras, Cancionero cubano and Viajera peninsular, among many others.

Nelson Cruz Tejas, still working sight the 80th birthday of Radio Angulo, he a merit artist who owes long life to the radio, and is busy working with today's generations of the radio, specially his loved Radio Angulo - CMKO.
